I saw a Master Dancer trip and fall, while performing for a large audience. It was just the form that fell, tripped by the uneven stage and subject to gravity. But her spirit rose higher, captivating in its unchanged poise, making of it, a lesson in rising gracefully, of skipping some beats and of returning to the rhythm of the song, serene, like a clear blue sky, upon which no cloud has passed. They called her ‘Sucheta’*. How appropriate!
