Because of your love

I have lost my sobriety

I am intoxicated

by the madness of love

In this fog

I have become stranger to myself

I’m so drunk

I’ve lost the way to my house

In the garden

I see only your face

From trees and blossoms

I inhale only your fragrance

Drunk with the ecstasy of love

I can no longer tell the difference

between drunkard and drink

Between lover and beloved

{Poem by Rumi, 13th century, Persian poet & Sufi mystic}

At the doorway into our home, in the slanting, cool, morning light, she lures me and halts me in my footsteps with her delicate, ivory beauty. Bending down to kiss her soft petals with the tip of my nose, I leisurely inhale her sweet perfume.

At twilight, I step out into our garden, and glance back at her. Her tender petals are wilting with the fading evening light. I sit next to her in sisterhood, observing her frailty. Her fragrance grows stronger, as she surrenders to her dying.

Cream hued flower-dust gathers, little by little, on the hind legs of the busy Honey Bee, while the beautiful Waterlily remains in complete surrender to the here and now. 💗

Sharing sacred moments, through a one minute film, entitled, ‘Togetherness.’ This intimate offering is my celebration of childhood friendships, unhindered creativity, and soulful sisterhoods, all over the world.

About the film:

Today, on the 23rd of January 2019, I celebrate the birthday of my dear childhood friend, Sudnya Shroff, through this one minute film. This is a medley of precious moments woven together in playfulness and love, as we leisurely wander about in God’s beautiful garden. The music that you hear in the background, ‘Lara’s theme,’ from the film, Doctor Zhivago, is a melody that I would have her play to me on her piano, again and again, way before we became teenagers. In the film, you will also pass by one of Sudnya’s large paintings, entitled, “Soul Sisters”. This painting now hangs in our home, and it also happens to be her celebration of the two of us.
