You’ve promised to come when I call
With this difficult silence at your end
I wonder whether you’ve heard at all

There’s no saying whether you’ll stall
And for all I suffer, make no amends
You’ve promised to come when I call

If you are here beside me in this hall
Reveal something that’ll set a trend
I wonder whether you’ve heard at all

If you’ll come now, play some ball,
I’ll not be so driven around the bend
You’ve promised to come when I call

As though I’ve tripped, about to fall,
Would you hasten to hold your friend?
I wonder whether you’ve heard at all

I didn’t get your number at the mall
It’s just where I’ve nothing to spend
You’ve promised to come when I call
I wonder whether you’ve heard at all

I woke up thirsty this morning
With an empty bottle beside me
Unable still to contain my yawning.

How I wished for it to be raining
For a little less pain upon my knee
I woke up thirsty this morning

No saying how much I’m gaining
With all that I drink I still have to pee
Unable still to contain my yawning

You’re too far too see I’m still pining
Unable even to bring me some tea
I woke up thirsty this morning

One more day to see the sun shining
enough to know that your love is free
Unable still to contain my yawning

Enough now with all your scolding
I know that it’s quite alright to be me
I woke up thirsty this morning
Unable still to contain my yawning.

It was time for breakfast by the clock
Right after that, my time to be met
I’ll open my doors to all who knock.

Does everything have to be so set
With no space at all for my surprise?
Just so many fish, in the same net.

You say that all answers have a price
Something to ponder, nothing to eat
That I’ll have to run, even for a slice

Come on then and take your seat
Let them serve you before it’s cold
Soon you’ll be done and on your feet

You’re still young and not too old
Learn to skip over lines drawn tight
All do admire the one grown bold.

Nothing that I say is worth a fight
Just be cool, sing, swim, dance
To see you fly is a beautiful sight!

This, my state, of waking –
Walking into the unknown,
Wrapped in tenderness,
The path ahead revealing,
By the light of my curiosity,
That which is meant for me.

This, my state of waking –
Right after you were born,
I’ve seen your face and known,
I’ll never be the same again.
You’ll change in so many ways,
And yet remain, my constant love!

At night, when dreams grow tall,
In that land without the usual laws,
I’ll fall, without moving an inch,
And I’ll fly, even without wings,
With a truth, free to change its shape,
Unbridled, by the hours of the night.

But now, I wake every morning,
To a song, that seems to truly belong,
To the land behind my closed eyelids.
How then do I hear it now, when
My eyes flutter, to the light of dawn?
Perhaps it’s the sound of a dream,
Seeping, into a new day’s light.

There are things I carry into the night,
Of all that goes on, during this day.
I wonder what it is that transformed
All that was dark, into joyous light.
